Are people with university degrees happier?

People with university degrees may be happier in terms of having higher job opportunities, and from having been exposed to different learning environments and experiences.

After doing some research online however, more than one study suggests that actually those with post graduate degrees are even happier than those with a single degree. According to the 'World Happiness Report' published by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) those who were most unhappy were the people with no formal education whatsoever.

People with one degree however, may actually not be as happy as you imagine, because in today's world - competition for jobs is more fierce, and even though people have degrees, it may not be enough to guarantee them the job they are looking for. Perhaps thats why those doing postgrads are noted as being 'happier' as they have even more of a chance to get a job than their friend with a standard degree.

A quick online search states that those who acquire post graduate degrees are happier. In my experience, people with university degrees may be happier in terms of accomplishment and slightly more selective job options, but university degrees are not an indicator of success or wealth. Many people with university degrees (especially in the United States) have considerable student loan debts and the job economy doesn't have opportunities that would allow these people to pay off the debt. Debt, an uncertain job market, lower salary options, and a rising housing market all lead to uncertainty for university graduates, this does not lead to surefire happiness. A university degree certainly creates oportunities for people, but it does not create certainty or peace of mind, both of which allow people to experience longterm happiness.

University education and happiness are not linked to each other. But most often mental contentment is related to happiness, that is why, it is thought that university degrees lead to happiness.

Happiness is something dependent on personal experiences and circumstances. For example, a doctorate degree holder mother, may has been coping with grief after the death of her 10 years old son. Or a man with no degree be happy and contented in terms of his personal business and relations.

On the other hand, it is often thought that university degree can take you on the heights of success and prosperity. But it is not same all the parts of world. There might be the regions where university degree holders are not stronger financially than those with no degree.

It gives you an eternal get out clause; you may not have a job, but you can always say you have a degree. In truth, having a degree isn't principled but it's pragmatic. Human beings shouldn't be encouraged to go to university, as it's counter-productive and destructive to humanity as a whole, but it's also something which isn't logical to attack in the open.

It's better to just attack money outright, or to attack jobs as an abstract concept
