How many US students are studying at university for free?

Tuition free universities in the United States are very far and few. However, if you look hard you will find a few. Colleges that waive tuition cost typically have several strict requirements for admission and many are religious. The few that are not faith oriented have strict requirements such as living within a certain county in a certain State. Then there are the few where you can go to school tuition free, but some type of labor is required in return and you still must pay housing, food, and book costs. The labor may include 15-20 hours working in the cafeteria or on a ranch herding cattle. Another option to go to school tuition free in the US is to attend a military academy, where tuition, board and room are free, but you will need to serve anywhere from five to eight years in the military after graduation. There is no statistic available with regard to students studying at university for free because there are so few opportunities to do so in the US.
