To what level does success happen because of education?

Success can be very different for everyone eg:- for someone self-satisfaction can be being successful or for someone having money can define success.

Nowadays, basic Education is required everywhere but we cannot say that if the person is educated he is successful. It completely depends on the individual, and how they use the knowledge to be successful. Even if an individual is not educated but has passion, then they can be successful even without being educated.

Education however, is something that can open up people's minds in a way that nothing else would have. A lot of people begin education with no idea of what they want in the future. Education may open them up to new opportunites, and courses of study that eventually leads them to success in the future, therefore to a high-level success can happen thanks to education - but not for everyone.

I think this kind of depends on what definitions of 'success' and 'education' you run with. If you define success quite narrowly as monetary gain and if you define education narrowly as accreditation through an education institution then generally speaking, more education tends to result in more goodies. However, even given these narrow definitions, it's a piece of cake to list a multitude of ridiculously successful people who never completed formal education. Now, if your definitions of success and education are broader, I think the correlation is a little flimsier. Success in life depends on many things. It's an oddly elusive soup made up of your attitudes, the way your society works, your family and blind luck. Knowledge is just one small chunk in a complex mix of conditions necessary to acquire success.

In developing countries, where there are fewer chances of getting a respectable job, it is thought by majority that education brings success. Education is considered to be the only way to be successful. However, one must be clear about success.

In third world countries, successful is the one who earns good, lives in a well-furnished house, have a luxury vehicle and a life-partner. If we consider education to be the formal process of getting degrees, then it still does not guarantees the happiness and success.

Education is not only about getting degrees and highly paid job. If success is really something that I described earlier, then it must come with hard-work and luck. Education only aims to deliver knowledge. That knowledge works differently on everybody. However, education or degree, may keep a hope of good job, alive.

Unarguably, there are many people who have been amazingly successful and have achieved this without a string of letters after their names.

However, education does inevitably open doors. The world has become more and more competitive. You need to "shine" when up against your competition in an interview situation, for example. And frequently, the bench-mark for even securing an interview, is dependent on the level or relevancy of your education.

At a really simplistic level, having acquired some academic or practical qualifications is proof of a desire to succeed and improve one's lot and this can only reflect well on any individual who is applying for a particular role or position.
