respect and punchality

The best thing university gave me was that it made me realize the path I wanted to take in my life. Before university, I wasn't exactly sure which career was right for me, but I knew I wanted to create something of my own and to help others. After all the years I learned to grow, and learned many different things in my lessons. I learned that everything is possible if we put our mind to it. I am now working freelance, helping others and planning to take a Master course in Entrepreneurship & Innovation. I believe if I hadn't attended university in the first place, I wouldn't be where I am (academically) today.

While postgraduate studies undoubtedly equipped me with a better capacity to earn money, I'd have to say that the best thing I acquired from a university education occurred during my first year of an undergraduate humanities degree. I was required to undertake a compulsory research unit. Essentially this short course focused on equipping students with the skills to identify a research question and then to hunt for the data required to answer it. In my naivety, I thought I knew everything there was to know about research. I was wrong. To this day, any time I need to learn something new I feel I have a structured, organized and effective way of breaking down the question and finding the answers I need. So, good old fashioned research skills! That has to be the best thing a university education gave me.

Universities are usually thought as graduate production houses. But there is always something more than the degree that one can receive from the university. The best thing that my university gave to me is the knowledge of myself. I learnt about me, and my capacities and capabilities. My university education taught me to prove myself even if I have to crawl on my knees. In university we are often supposed accomplish some group projects. These group projects taught me to collaborate with others and to build an extra-ordinary team. I learnt to tolerate other’s point of view even if it opposes mine. I learnt that I can do the things which I would have never imagined. The best thing what a university can give, is to learn about yourself and to build a tolerated behavior for others.
