Quality of civil society leadership in Croatia compared to Western Europe or the US/Canada?

Civil society leaders in Croatia still deals with people's mentality inherited from communist regime: inability to be active citizens due to lack of democratic literacy and education. By switching responsibilities on the government, people wait for the things to get better, and if they don't get better, they move abroad.

In recent years there are few examples of active citizenship, but not much as in Western Europe or the US/Canada. Those parts of the world were democracies from the very beginning or at least for much longer time than Croatia. Their mindset is different, so as political, historical and social circumstances during long period of time.

Also, there are problems I already mentioned in answer on challenges to civil society nowadays in Croatia: finances, different ideological background of leaders, lack of systematic funding and communication between opposite associations...

So, I would say that quality in Croatia is lower than the quality on the West.

Civil society leadership in Croatia compared to Western Europe or US/Canada and its quality is lower for sure. If we look at USA, its main advantage are possibilities which that country offers, there are so many job opportunities and ways to earn money, while Croatia is in large debts, and many people's bank accounts are frozen or in deficit. Western Europe countries such as Germany are investing in their economy and they do it succesfully because they have competent leaders that are confident and skillful at what they do. Leadership in Croatia is opposite, their solution is to lower the amount of domestic debt in a way which include selling our country's capital instead of investing in tourism and agriculture, branches in which our country has potential to grow and be very successful. I feel like other country's leadership is based on long-term prosperity and welfare, while ours is here jus to ''survive'', and that is the main problem.
