Wouldn't Macedonia be better-off without its Hellenistic symbols?

Macedonia's Hellenic symbols are a way to establish its specific independent autonomy after separating itself from the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in the 1990s. It's a bit large on myth and slightly fantastical because it reflects on Alexander the Great Macedonia which is geographically further south. So obviously some people have a problem with its fake (post modern?) monuments, neo-classicist colonnades, etc. In my opinion they add fun to the place, something for tourists to look on, reflect, argue about, disagree with, and photograph.
