Was there a 40% decline in the detainment of illegal immigrants after Trump entered in office?

The arrest of illegal immigrants in the US between January and June 2017 rose to over 40 percent compared to the same period in 2016. However, the deportation of illegal immigrants has not risen and remains lower then prior presidents numbers. Between January and June 2017 the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported 105,178 undocumented immigrants, of which 42 percent were noncriminal. In 2016 over the same period ICE deported 121,170 illegal immigrants, of which 42 percent were noncriminal. Deportation is far more difficult to accomplish then arresting and detaining illegal immigrants, as it can take years to work through the immigration courts.
