How did you end up at work from home?

I ended up at a work from home job because of the need to diversify my income. Having multiple income streams seems to be a new way of life for many. With the cost of living continually rising and single income pay staying stagnant it is a way for people to pay their bills and still live a life. Additionally, people no longer have the security or luxury of staying at the same job their entire career. Companies are no longer loyal to their employees. Another reason for taking a work from home job is the freedom is allows. For example, working from home while your children are at school and after they go to bed allows a freedom of being there for and with your children that a non-work from home job gives you. And then there is the opportunity to work multiple work from home jobs that create multiple income sources. This creates more financial security in that if you loose one job you have another one or two to fall back on until you can replace the lost one. A final reason is the aging baby boomer population, many children are having to take care of their parents. A work from home job allows one to have more balance in their life and in many ways more financial security, then relying on a company who could lay you off tomorrow.

I ended up working from home because I realize I'm not a good employee for most bosses in my country. I'm the type of person when can't stay quiet when something wrong happen in front of me. I usually be the first to try to make things right, even if it's challenging the authorities (bosses). After 10 years hopping from office to office, I decided that maybe I will keep my job longer as a home entrepreneur. Becoming a boss. And it turned out to be exactly I'm looking for. I can set up my own schedule, be at home when my children go home from school, and spend more time with my family or pursuing my hobby. There are hard times too because all reponsibilities are on me and I have people working for me to be paid regularly, no matter how the business' condition is. Now, I'm running a small business entreprise and doing freelance jobs in my spare time. These freelance jobs make my daily life more colorful because they apply my other skills and I still can look after my business while working on them.

With the current economic situation, a single job is not sufficient to maintain an ordinary lifestyle. There is a need to work more if we are to barely live. Additionally, more people are preferring the flexibility that working from home brings. You can work at any time with minimum supervision, and you avoid the headaches that are morning traffic. Personally, I listed all the pros and cons of working from home and the pros were an overwhelming majority. I’m now more satisfied financially and I’m no longer fatigued every day because I can take breaks however I want. The lure of having the ability to work for multiple jobs while at home eventually led me to ditching the traditional way of going to jobs. Did I say I no longer have to endure office politics?
