The support of migrants costs EU countries on average 12k to 15k Euros for the first year. Subsequent years the cost decreases to an average of 3k Euros by year eight. In 2016 this amounted to 0.2 per cent of the EU's total economic output. Some countries such as Sweden and Germany who have taken in more migrants in recent years will spend as much as 0.9 per cent of their output. These figures do not include the additional cost to EU countries for workforce integration, education, and language courses.
