What are the cons of the Common Core public school curriculum in the United States?

One main con of Common Core testing in the United States is that it is designed in a way that forces teachers to "teach to the test." In "teaching to the test," many teachers are forced to skip or gloss over vital and important portions of education, simply because they will not appear on the Common Core test. This leaves students lacking in areas of their learning, as Common Core testing only covers very particular areas of knowledge, and is not at all all-compassing. Another con is that teachers whose students do not perform well on the tests are reprimanded. These reprimands can involve anything from supervised classes, job terminations, and other negative consequences. When teachers feel that they can only teach subjects and ideas that will occur on the Common Core test, many lose their passion for shaping young minds. This, in turn, can affect the quality of teaching. In all, I feel that Common Core is neither comprehensive or efficient as an education-level gauge.
