Climate change is a very important global issue. Without any action to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions, global warming has been said to possibly exceed 2°C above pre-industrialised levels, and could even be as much as 5°C by the end of the century... this would have a drastic impact on the world's landscape and sea levels.

With regards to EU policy framework, there is a '2030 climate and energy framework' which sets out a policy framework for EU climate and energy policies in the 2020-2030 period. It contains a number of measures and targets to make the EU's economy and energy system more competitive, secure and sustainable. The framework also aims to encourage investment in green technologies, which would help create jobs and strengthen Europe's competitiveness.

The problem is that the theory that greenhouse gas emissions will cause global warming is unproven. Timescales are too short for proof. The only proof comes from Global Climate Models whose output does not reflect reality. The hugely expensive programmes that are proposed to reduce emissions should be replaced by research into adaptation, for climate will change, one way or the other, with or without mankind's contribution, and the world should be prepared.
