Yes, to some extent, I believe so. But not without action and change. I hope that we haven't done irreparable damage to our planet, but hoping is not enough to stop climate change. We must make concrete changes to stop the damage we've done. This includes recycling, cleaning up our oceans, reducing carbon footprints, cycling out fossil fuels, preserving our rainforests, and more. I think the most critical step is this: we, especially our world leaders, need to stop arguing about whether or not climate change is real, and begin working to stop it. Every leading scientist in the world agrees that climate change is real and they have the temperature data to prove it. We need to stop wasting our time arguing and spend it cleaning up, reusing, recycling, and make positive changes for future generations.

The only way significant change to the climate can be achieved is through radical action and change. While countries are making efforts to arrest global warming, it isn't enough. I believe the barrier we face as a species to changing something like climate change is that we don't see major change in our lifetimes. The process is occurring at a pace that an average person doesn't respond to emotionally. The exception is parts of the world where the change is occurring more rapidly. Take the tiny island nation of Kiribati, for example. The entire island is at ocean level and within a single lifetime, islanders living there are observing that their available land is being swallowed up. The voice of people like this may be a powerful catalyst for encouraging radical action. We can only hope.

No, climate change cannot be permanently stopped. The things of what humans have done to earth so far, even if everything would be stopped and absolutelly no polution caused, would still make earth suffer the consequences for hundred of years. We cannot stop climate change but we can reduce the damage it will do through years to come.
