Is being a leader a recipe for happiness?

I share the opinion of the others members - being a leader is not enough to be happy, at least for me. If you are a leading type of character, it might help you feel satisfied or even on cloud nine. However, happiness is not only the successful work or the big team and salary but also the new experiences, the moments with family and friends. I see it as a great personal characteristic of a mentor to dream not only for professional achievements but also for a balance in his personal relationships. This sets the example that work shall not be the sole motivating power even for the people on high positions. Furthermore, a true leader is not focused on being such. That is why becoming a leader is not a measurement for happiness or achieved goals.

Being a leader in itself is certainly not a recipe for how to be happy. On the contrary, I think being a leader can often be very frustrating. The leader usually has a big responsibility and he/she is exposed to stress, but also to great pressure to be accurate, flexible, and people looked to him/her as someone infallible. And such a sense of responsibility can easily lead to frustration, stress and depression. Many leaders seek consultations with psychologists to learn how to handle stress. Often because they are successful in their work, but unfortunately this kind of happiness does not mean that they will be happy in his/her personal and hence lifetime. What is luck? It is definitely something else for everyone. It can be a happy family, a finance account, a big house, a new car ... Not always is luck connected with material things. Someone who lives from pay to pay is much happier than a rich man who counts millions. The feeling of happiness, in my opinion, does not lie directly in the material background, but especially in ourselves. No one can deliver it to us and no one can take us. It's just about setting our priorities and setting our minds.

It may be one of happiness "ingredients" but not a full recipe of it. Leadership and happiness are two words that are almost never found in a positive sentence. Leadership requires hard work, knowledge, and characters to bring everyone in the organization to have the same mission and vision. One of the mission can be happiness, and usually not just personal happiness, but also for the members and communities. When you set your goals not only for profit but to people to gain more benefit, the happiness when it is achieved will spread dispersedly and the joy of your surroundings would fill your heart with so much more happiness.

Being a leader is not recipe for happiness. Well, at least not for everybody. But if someone wants to be a leader, of course he/she will be happy doing what they love. Leadership carries a lot of responsibility, many stressful situations, difficult decisions which not everybody will like. Indeed, many will blame him/her for making some decisions. This means leaders can only be those who really want it, have the skills, resources and time to work on themselves and improve their talents, share them with others to enhance the community they live in. And of course, do their work under pressure. So, leadership is recipe for happiness only for some people.

There is no guarantee answer whether a leader will be happy or not. Happiness is a difficult thing to measure and the indication of time puts happiness a very difficult sphere.

If a leader follows their heart and does what they truely believe in, I also believe that they can ultimately reach happiness.

If a leader goes by simply doing what he think he has to and his heart in not in the right place, then in my opinion, the leader will not be a "happy" leader and in the long run will fall down to the path of misery.

All in all, if you make the recipe yours, you can be a happy leader.

In my opinion, no. Leadership might seem as something good and a common goal to everyone but truth is there are lots of people that do not desire to become leaders. Leaders need to have a certain set of qualities and skills that some people simply don’t have or don’t want to have, leaders also have lots of responsibilities that many people don’t want to have. Being a leader may be seen as an extremely good thing in today’s society but the truth is: it isn’t the perfect position. It comes with a lot of responsibility, it is time consuming, it comes with a lot of pressure and it can be extremely stressful. Some people simply don’t want to have that in their lives and in those cases being a leader wouldn’t bring them any happiness. In the end, everything comes down to what each person wants, if a person wants to be a leader then it can bring them happiness, if not, it won’t and can even be a major reason for a person’s unhappiness. We aren't all the same, so what brings hapiness to some doesn't necessarily bring hapiness to others.
