Will not other people take advantage of servant leadership?

For me, if the particular relationships are really of a servant leadership type, it is no likey one member to take advantages over another. What I mean is that if a kind of leadership is established, it is supposed to have some organisation and hierarchy. A servant leader sets the example for the others by working sometimes even harder than them, but he is not the only one doing the job. As a leader, he continues to have the responsibility to evaluate the processes going on in the team and to guide its members. I think that an andvantage can be taken if the structure is not clear and the group is more like an anarchy than a well-coordinated team. On the other hand, if we discuss the matter from a more global perspective, in every society there are people who benefit from the work of the others but probably a true leader won't see it that way. He/she will be satisfied that his/hers efforts are not pointless.

As a servant leader, you're a "servant first" – you focus on the needs of others, especially team members, before you consider your own. You acknowledge other people's perspectives, give them the support they need to meet their work and personal goals, involve them in decisions where appropriate, and build a sense of community within your team. This leads to higher engagement, more trust, and stronger relationships with team members and other stakeholders. However, servant leadership is problematic in hierarchical, autocratic cultures where managers and leaders are expected to make all the decisions. Here, servant leaders may struggle to earn respect. Having said that, it depends on the culture of the organization. People will take advantage of servant leadership if they don’t have fully grasp of their position in the organization. The leader supports and hands on in every element in the organization, not so the other can sit back and relax, but to inspire and build closer relationship. To avoid being taken advantage of, a servant leader still have to be stern on applying principal to make sure they are on the right way to reach their goals.

Most often it is assumed that Servant Leaders can be taken advantage of. However, that’s exactly what differentiates a Servant Leaders from employees who can be taken advantage of. The idea of servant leadership emphasises on the all round development of the team and taking advantage of a servant leader would only result in more development. There is no way that one such leader is going to take up the work of a shirking employee and get it done for them. Rather a leader would identify and deploy ways in which the shirking employee can be helped with respect to getting the task accomplished.

Someone much smarter than me said: How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours (Wayne Dyer). I truly believe that. If someone wants to be an honest leader with no self-interest, that is great! World needs more of those. But of course, not everybody will understand that. We are not all the same. Some people care only about their interests, problems and they will certainly take advantage of it. Those people will be active citizens as long as it's in their best interest, thinking about their goals and maybe material gains, depending on what sphere they are into.

Also, they can join the civil society organizations just to use its resources, people and other things related to it. Later, when their needs being met, leave organization without paying attention to other goods that can be done for community.
