The world is changing. And the ways we work need to be part of that change. The notion of unstoppable continued growth underpins current notions of capitalism, and that's just not possible. Part of the issue is that the resources we have on the planet are finite - there's only so much to go round, and there comes a point (we may have passed it) where we are destroying the source of that wealth because of the mistaken belief that the planet exists for people to become wealthy. And we're slowly entering an era where robots and Artificial Intelligences will do more and more of the work that humans have done. One likely consequence of this is that Universal Basic Income is likely to be introduced (it's already being trialled). And what that means is people will have more time to do what they want. My belief is that for a lot of people, that will mean devoting their time to creative and socially worthwhile projects. For that reason, I'm inclined to support the idea that social entrepreneurship will become a major trend in the years ahead.

My only concern is that Universal Basic Income will atrophy individuals' drive to contribute something creative/innovative to society. Instead of motivating individuals to fulfill their highest creative potential, it may degrade their desire to work and be a productive agent in their communities. This phenomena can be witnessed in certain social democratic countries of Europe, where the government provides income and housing for a specific group of its citizens who never go back to work.
