No. There are parts of the world more severely affected by climate change than others. One such part of the world is the Pacific. Some small island states have been so severely affected by rising sea levels that it is doubtful that they will continue to remain viable. I spent five years working in the Pacific and I had the opportunity to speak with older people about what their island looked like when they were a child. I remember one man pointing out at the sea and saying that he used to live there. In places like these, climate change isn't just an abstract and distant concept. It's something that is changing their way of life right now. I think their perspective is a crucial one. They are people undergoing the effects of climate change right now. Their voices should be heard.
