Integration courses have been created for those certified as refugees with the courses consisting of language and civics components. It is only after learning German can migrants apply for jobs. In schooling, a few states have hired more teachers to handle language training for children so that they are then able to join school.

Recent changes to the courses include the expansion of the orientation course from 60 hours to 100 hours. It is also now incumbent for asylum seekers to begin a course if they are receiving benefits. Earlier, courses were stipulated to be begun in three months which has now been reduced to six weeks.

A free App called Ankommen has been available for refugees to better understand all the processes and to obtain all necessary information on jobs and language. The App has been downloaded 230,000 times as of February 2017.

The German government has also set up a Federal Anti-discrimination Agency (ADS) as a part of the General Act on Equal Treatment (ACG) passed in August 2006.
