Climate change is a very important global issue. Without any action to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions, global warming has been said to possibly exceed 2°C above pre-industrialised levels, and could even be as much as 5°C by the end of the century... this would have a drastic impact on the world's landscape and sea levels.

With regards to EU policy framework, there is a '2030 climate and energy framework' which sets out a policy framework for EU climate and energy policies in the 2020-2030 period. It contains a number of measures and targets to make the EU's economy and energy system more competitive, secure and sustainable. The framework also aims to encourage investment in green technologies, which would help create jobs and strengthen Europe's competitiveness.
