Communicating with and contributing to the professional development of young talented people could be a strong driver for a university teaching career. Therefore teachers who would like to maximise their impact might consider working at universities. Also, in comparison with independent individual research centers, universities usually have better chances for obtaining funding for research purposes, and for teachers with ambition to supervise research and promote innovation there could be more opportunities if they work at universities.

At the same time, it is common for universities to get involved in global staff exchange programs and teachers could enjoy spending a semester or an academic year working at a partner institution overseas. Overall unless there is a major economic crisis and reforms require significant reduction of public employees that might include public universities, university teaching positions are more stable and economically beneficial if compared with teaching on individual basis and in private commercial courses.
