Does social media create a global community?

It certainley does. Without social media, I would never have went to New York to meet an artist which I became good online friends with. I would never have found two internships abroad in the Netherlands if I hadn't used the internet - which were two of the most exciting periods of my life. Yes social media has played a big part in my life, as it has for others. If we take a step back to a number of years ago, and think just how much social media has influenced out lives until now, it's crazy. Some people have even met their soulmates from other sides of the world to where they are, it's uses are absolutely limitless.

We are much more connected now thanks to social media. Knowing there is a global community online there when you feel alone is a comforting thing. You can speak to someone miles away and create new online friends from different cultures, and learn about how they live there. Social media is good if we use it in the right way to get the best from it, rather than abuse it.
